Beth Shero

Co-founder, COO, & Project Manager

Education & Background:

I completed my Bachelors in Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Art Institute of Boston (2003 – 2007), which included studying abroad at the Willem de Kooning Academy School in Rotterdam, Netherlands. My background is in print graphic design, but I quickly learned web design after I graduated. This allowed me to grow as a designer, and design applications and websites for businesses of all sizes. In 2009, I started teaching Animation and Web Design at Dutchess Community College. In 2010, we started our business, Shero, where I dove into the eCommerce world. I utilized my background in graphic and application design to improve the user experience in the Magento eCommerce world. Learning Magento and specializing in all aspects of the platform became a pure passion, as my love of design met the exquisite functionality of Magento.

What is your role at Shero?

I am one of the co-founders of Shero. Day in and out, I help keep everything moving forward and solve problems. My speciality is helping our clients find the best solutions for their needs, and helping our team achieve their goals. This begins with simple discussions with clients to understand their needs and their customers’ needs. Then I offer options on how to proceed. I see myself as a Magento Solutions Specialist, with a visionary eye for any project from start to finish, addressing everything in between. I become the communicator between everyone to make dreams become a reality. This includes discussions between our clients and developers, and managing projects. I believe everyone has an inner genius that needs to found and released to its fullest potential. If you can dream it, you can make it. I believe this applies in all areas in life, including designing and implementing Magento!

What do you most enjoy doing at Shero?

My favorite thing about my job is learning about other people’s businesses and being able to help them achieve their ultimate goals online in Magento. I really enjoy seeing projects grow from a small idea to a final project. Watching these projects grow to their fullest potential, working with our clients to design the ultimate website, and developing all the functionality are highlights of my day. Nothing is better than seeing a website through to its final stages, and watching it succeed in the real world.

Some of my favorite projects I’ve worked on are: All3sports, Junie Moon Shop, NCMA, Organic Pharmer, and Madame Alexander. The personal and business relationships we have built between our staff and our clients, through the process of developing these websites, has been substantial, and these clients have been a true joy to work with. I try to always keep our business practice simple and transparent. We are all people working with other people in the end, and these connections have made those projects all the more worthwhile.

What do you do when you're not working?

Spending time with my family including my three-year-old daughter; Dea, my husband; Gentian, and our extended family of wire-haired dachshunds: Mae, Bella and Achilles. I also enjoy traveling, eating really good food, and being outdoors in the wild open countryside or in the woods. I enjoy reading books, cooking/baking, and my true passion is drawing/painting.

Pet Corner:

All of my dogs have a unique personality and are like our kids. Mae is my personal dog and always has a smile on her face when she’s happy. She is a fierce hunter, and I love that she is versatile and adapts to her environment. She is very caring and loves her belly rubbed.

What are you reading, watching or listening to right now?

I have not been watching much tv or movies lately. When I have free time, I like to read mysteries or fictional books that help me escape into different worlds. I listen to a lot of electronic music when I am working but do not have any favorite kind of music. It truly depends on my mood.

Where do you most like to travel?

One of my favorite places to travel is Italy, because of its amazing food, history, scenery, and people. However, I really enjoy traveling all over Europe. In college, I traveled to: England, The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Monaco, Switzerland, Italy, Czech Republic, and to Greece. I have traveled to Albania, Italy, and Greece several times after my original stay in Europe. I look forward to many more experiences and would like to travel to Japan the next time I’m able. My main passion about traveling is experiencing the food and culture of the everyday person.
